Gig Alert: The Phoenix Foundation, Winter Games Lotto Villages, Queenstown

There must be something in the coffee. There’s got to be a correlation between the amount of killer bands and musicians that come out of Wellington and the fact that the “coolest little capital in the world” has more cafes per capita than anywhere in the globe. Whisked straight from the home of the Flat White to the hub of the bungee jump, The Phoenix Foundation promise to energise the Winter Games NZ Opening Ceremony crowd with their ethereal rock at the Queenstown Memorial Hall on August 17. I’m drooling to hear the swoony jams from their latest album Fandango, along with the celebrated and unabashedly trippy Pegasus. It’s the type of seductive, atmospheric music that washes over then carries you away on a wave of dreamy jive. You can’t help but dance to these guys.

Tickets available online and from the Lotto Villages in Wanaka & QT – with no booking fee.

WIN TICKETS by posting I LOVE PHOENIX FOUNDATION on the ONmag Facebook page. The winner will be chosen at random and notified at 4pm on August 16.
