Welcome to the weekend. Time to shake off the week and wind into that Friday night vibe. ANNABEL WILSON had a chat with Anna Coddington who is in Wanaka with LIPS for their NZ tour. Catch them at Gin and Raspberry this Sunday. Read ON to find out more about what floats Anna’s boat and what’s ON this week in the Central Otago basin. To win tix to see the LIPS/Anna Coddington gig, email annabel@onmag.co.nz with the answer to this question: What’s on Anna Coddington’s rider?

What’s your favourite thing about Friday?
Same as everyone- that the weekend starts tomorrow! Being on tour it means I get to play shows. Being at home means I get to hang out with my baby and the boyf.
Which living person do you most admire and why?
Probably my Mum. She was a teacher, then a Mum, then when I was 12 she said “I’m going to be a lawyer now”. She was 36 with three kids and made that decision and now she rules at life.
Describe your best haircut ever.
When I was 17 my best friend and I were bored and we wagged school and shaved my head to the skin.
Where do ideas come from?
The world, other humans, life, everywhere.
What wakes you up in the middle of the night?
My son.
What is your most treasured possession?
Probably my Rickenbacker guitar
If we raided your fridge, what would we find?
Three kinds of milk- green for my boyfriend, blue for my baby, and soy for me.
What’s on your rider?
Yealands Pinot Noir.
Favourite ‘Greatest Hits’ album?
Hatful of Hollow by The Smiths– it’s kind of a greatest hits.
The best thing about Friday is…
That everyone is excited about the weekend
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
As Ronan Keating would say “Life is a rollercoaster you just gotta ride it”.
What’s ON?
Anna Coddington & Lips at the Gin & Raspberry in Wanaka this Sun Sep 20. 14.
What’s OFF?
Spending $26 million on the flag debacle and those final four yucky designs.
Who’s your dream jam-session partner?
LIPS! My dreams have come true.
What do you like best about Wanaka?
Everything- the people and the place itself. It’s one of my favourite places on Earth.
Ours too. Ahoy me hearties! Did you know tomorrow is International Talk Like A Pirate Day? This weekend, we’re stoked on the Tempus Two wine tasting at Wanaka Liquor Centre to farewell the working week then Christina Gurola at Gin and Raspberry and a good old boogie down Post Office Lane. Saturday sees us lining up to tidy up Lismore Park like the tidy Kiwis we should be, hitting up Cardrona for the Mini Pipe World Champs featuring our home girls Juliane Bray & Sharon Parker then the Waratahs are playing at the Hawea Hotel. It’s the Bullock Bar Rookie Bull Rider of the Year comp and Gin and Raspberry’s 2nd birthday with live music from Graeme James. Sunday is all about slipping on some lederhosen for the inaugural Rossignol Lederhosen 500 at Treble Cone. A day up TC will be followed by the Wined Out of Winter session at Rippon vineyard with the winning combination of Civilian Sol, Robbie and dumplings. Oh, and that view.
Next week we’re going to Bootcamp to work off our wintercoat/ghetto bootie. Monday we are amped for the return of Poetic Justice for an open mic session of spoken word and poetry at Gin and Raspberry. There will be wine and swearing. All welcome to read, all welcome to listen. ON Tuesday, the Welcome In Spring cooking course takes place. Wednesday is Stitch n Bitch at Edgewater from 7pm. See you out there.
