Thank F*** it’s Friday with Bridget Legnavsky

Bridget and family: Kings of the Road.

ONmag has a yarn with snow goddess fashionista Bridget Legnavsky as she prepares for this year’s Passion for Fashion – Dawn til Dusk. We’re crushing on Bridget cos she’s quite the guru – General Manager of Cardrona, this maven started 47 Frocks (our fave Wanaka concept store) with Anna Brewster a while back and is basically ruling at life while bringing up some supercharged freeriding grommies and making magic happen as conveyed in her celebrity appearances in places like Life and Leisure magazine. Read ON to discover her take on fashion and humanity… then we tell you what’s ballin’ and rollin’ in the 443 and beyond this week.

What’s your favourite thing about Friday? Emails slow down… always a great vibe around the peeps.

Which living person do you most admire and why? Zuzu… my daughter. She is so carefree, kind and always happy.

Describe your best haircut ever. Actually I loved my last one. Two toned, brighter tips and a bit of the old 80’s flick. If I can wear it out  without suffocating it’s great – thanks Shannon!

Where do ideas come from? Absolutely no idea sometimes… but generally from the really subtle things I see or hear. I’m really surprised at how sharp my senses can be. Sometimes the tiniest detail creates a full on story in my head.

What wakes you up in the middle of the night? Usually too much wine.

What is your most treasured possession? I’m pretty materialistic really … ha – right now my YSL cowboy boots.

If we raided your fridge, what would we find? It’s always completely full.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen backstage? Anyone being sensible.

Define fashion. It’s an opportunity to create art on your body and present to the world the person you want them to see.

Favourite aspect of Passion for Fashion? This incredibly colourful and brave community coming together to enjoy each other and celebrate being fabulous.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you? Always be honest, listen carefully to the people around you and keep learning.

What’s ON? Great positive attitude.

What’s OFF? Negativity.

Who’s on your ultimate dinner party guestlist? My friends… any of them and all of them that can make it.

What do you like best about Wanaka? It is unique, sophisticated and full of brave people that want to stand out and make a difference.

Agreed, complètement. The ON crew are prinking and preening in preparatiON for Passion for Fashion next Saturday eve. A highlight of the social and cultural calendar, this event epitomises the hashtag #so_wanakaithurts. Local babes of all ages rock the stage in a choreographed showcase of upcoming fashion lines from Sassy Pants, Bella, Structure, 47 Frocks, BASE, Southbeach, Escape and Christina Perriam.

We love seeing our mates up there, strutting their stuff and looking gorgeous. Get yourself a ticket right now from BASE if you haven’t already and go early to enjoy vino and eats from Corbridge Estate Woolshed.

In other news, this weekend is all about getting ON the lake; not OFF your face. We are kayaking to Ruby Island right after posting this missive, then we’ll be joining the Wanaka massive for the Onwards party at Water Bar. Saturday’s for sunbathing or mountain biking and Sunday will be barefoot bowling, the markets or adventures in the mountains. Stay awesome.
